Based on Neil McCormick's celebrated memoir "Killing Bono: I Was Bono's Doppelganger", this highly anticipated film adaptation is set to hit cinemas soon. "It's the story of my life as a failed rock star, which is a very strange thing to see unfold on a movie screen. Most people deemed worthy of the biopic treatment have actually done something memorable, even historical, warriors, sports legends, entertainment superstars, great peace activists. All I did was royally screw things up for myself, while my school friends in U2 went on to achieve everything I ever wanted. But actually more people have the experience of failure than success, so there is a kind of everyman quality to a loser's story, which is what drives the film." - Neil McCormick, The Telegraph (03/12/2010)

Hippie Hippie Shake is a film covering the notorious trials of 'Oz' magazine's Richard Neville and Felix Dennis. Directed by Beeban Kidron (Bridget Jones/Great Moments In Aviation), the film includes the use of Quintessences' "Only Love" & and "Supernatural Fairytales" by Art/Spooky Tooth. Furthermore, the film re-stages Free's iconic perfomance at the Isle Of White Festival. Film Info: In 1966, Britain is emerging from the drabness of the post-war 50’s and a political and sexual revolution is underway. On the other side of the world in Sydney Australia, counterculture journalist Richard Neville and artist Martin Sharp decide that they want to be part of Swinging London. Ambitious and determined to be at the heart of the changing times, Richard re-launches OZ – a satirical and subversive magazine from their university days. With girlfriend Louise Ferrier, he assembles a team of journalists, including fellow Australian Germaine Greer. When Martin adds his artistic genius to the mix, the magazine is launched. OZ soon becomes the handbook for the counterculture. When a youthful Felix Dennis joins the team to sell advertising space in the magazine, it is a success and for the next couple of years, the OZ team finds itself at the epicentre of the Sixties movement, surrounded by rock musicians, liberal intellectuals, artists, designers, hustlers and fabulous freaks. The age of free love and flower power comes into full bloom. It doesn’t last. Richard and Louise’s relationship becomes complicated in world of free love, and when teenage school-kids are invited to edit OZ as a stunt, the British Establishment takes particular offence. Richard, Felix and fellow editor Jim Anderton are arrested and sentenced for Obscenity. OZ is thrust into another sort of limelight and Richard finds himself at the centre of a trial that grips the nation. Unwittingly, he finds himself the spokesperson for an entire generation, fighting for the right to freedom of speech and creative thought. Based on Richard Neville’s memoirs of this time in his life HIPPIE HIPPIE SHAKE is ‘the dreams, the trips, the trials, the love-ins, the screw-ups…..THE SIXTIES’

Exciting times for JOHN GRANT. His second album Pale Green Ghosts has entered the Official UK charts at Number 16 and Number 2 in the UK Independent Charts. Having been one of the year's most critically-acclaimed releases, the reviews surpassing even those of his debut album three years ago.
"it's hard to imagine a more enjoyable and rewarding hour of music being released this year than Pale Green Ghosts: self-obsessed but completely compelling, profoundly discomforting but beautiful, lost in its own fathomless personal misery, but warm, funny and wise."
The Guardian - 5 Stars ***** (Album Of The Week)
"an exhilarating musical progression... "Pain it is a glacier... creating spectacular landscapes," he sings on ‘Glacier': a truth his career makes self-evident."
The Independent On Sunday - 5 Stars ***** (CD Of The Week)
"an album that, rather than juggling empty pop-song clichés, opts to expose the rawest emotional nerves: truth and beauty, rather than lies and blather."
The Independent - 4 Stars **** (Album Of The Week)
"The abrupt changes between lush vintage balladry and stark electro ensure that Pale Green Ghosts is not as instantly cohesive as Queen Of Denmark. But it is arguably more satisfying, in its artistic courage, its refusal to meet expectations, and its willingness to paint a brand new picture of a gay demi-monde where the triumphs and tragedies have a deeper resonance than simple melodrama or camp... A masterpiece"
UNCUT - 8/10
"As piano and strings crescendo, concluding Pale Green Ghosts' uncommon vistas of seriousness, levity and disco dancing, you can imagine the singer departing in triumph"
Q - 4 Stars ****
"Several of the tracks here top the majesty of those on the debut... a bold, distinctive and genuinely excellent record"
Clash - 9/10
"Grant's rich voice dovetails beautifully with the silvery synths of ‘GMF' and ‘Vietnam'... This is audacious stuff from one talented motherfucker."
NME - 8/10
"After initial surprise, Queen Of Denmark fans should soon grow to love the album"
Sunday Times (Album Of The Week)
"as starkly beautiful as it's sad"
Time Out - 4 Stars **** (Album Of The Week)
"John Grant is best know for this emotionally raw, adult FM pop, but here he lets his love of electronica blossom into a record referencing 80's Brit synth pop, coldwave, The Moog and modern talent like Trentmøller. He's made a motherfucking exciting record, that's for sure."
MIXMAG - 8/10
"GMF sees him crooning "I am the greatest motherf*cker that you'll ever meet"... Bonkers but brilliant.
Evening Standard - 4 Stars ****
"Here he negotiates his difficult second album with aplomb... A rich musical imagination gives his self-flagellation a strangely appealing magnetism"
Financial Times - 4 Stars ****
"Bravery is second nature to former Czars man Grant, and so it proves on his second album where tuneful but traumatised electro predominates with Sinead O'Connor adding spirited support on the heroic GMF."
The Mirror - 4 Stars ****
"The songwriting is vintage Grant: erudite, bittersweet and catchy"
Sunday Telegraph - 4 Stars ****
"Emotionally raw, lyrically imaginative and caustically funny"
Metro - 4 Stars ****
