Blue Mountain Music are pleased to be involved in two albums charting for the first time in the UK this week in Estelle’s ‘Shine’, in at number 6 and Gnarls Barclay’s ‘The Odd Couple’ which debuted at 19. For their ‘Would Be Killer’ track Gnarls Barkley sampled ‘Fluid’ which was written and performed by Twink aka John Alder, and taken from his 1970 solo album ‘Think Pink’. Drummer, singer and songwriter Twink (pictured) was a member of seminal 1960s psychedelic, rock and pop bands The Fairies, Tomorrow, The Pretty Things and The Pink Fairies, and took his name from Silky Curler Twink the popular home perm kit that was available in the sixties. Meanwhile Estelle’s album features an interpolation of Bob Marley’s ‘So Much Things To Say’ on her track “So Much Out The Way”. Blue Mountain / Because Publishing writer Kano has also featured on two recent TV performances of Estelle’s UK No. 1 hit ‘American Boy’ in which he replaces Kanye West’s guest vocals.
